Last night we went to my son's last school concert.  It was a bittersweet moment.

He graduates in three days.  No more awards ceremonies.  No more football games.  No more plays.  No more science fair projects.

He's all grown up...or at least that's what he tells me.

I'm not so sure.

As I look at him, I can see the wonderful man he is becoming.  But I also see the little boy who cried when I left him at preschool.  And now I'm the one crying.

I know there are lessons he needs to go off to learn.  He needs to learn that he's not perfect.  That he's not Superman in disguise.

And I'm afraid of those lessons.  I pray that what I've taught him is still in there beneath the teenage "perfectionist".  I pray that some day he'll be the Superman that he wants to be.

And to help him on that goal, I've made him some super easy chocolate covered oreos to enjoy on Graduation weekend.  Superman will be stopping in at our house for a brief moment for sure.

How to make Superman Cookies

To make these chocolate covered oreo Superman cookies, you'll need:

Superman Ice Cube Tray
Standard Sandwich Cookie Mold
Oreo Double Stuff Sandwich Cookie
Wilton Red Candy Melts
Wilton Yellow Candy Melts

Chocolate Covered Oreo DIY

Start by pouring your Wilton Red Candy Melts into a microwavable safe bowl.  Melt the candy in 1 1/2 minute increments at 50 percent power in your microwave.  Stir in between periods to keep the chocolate from burning.

Once the chocolate melts are smooth and creamy, use a spoon to fill the  Cookie Mold about 1/3 full.  Place an Oreo Double Stuff Sandwich Cookie into the cookie mold cavity and gently push down until the red candy starts to come up sides.  Add a little bit more chocolate on top of the cookie and tap the mold on the counter to smooth out the chocolate and remove any air bubbles on the sides.

Fill all the mold cavities with chocolate and cookies.  Place in the refrigerator for about 20 minutes to a half hour.

Make a chocolate Superman logo

While your cookies are hardening in the refrigerator, repeat the melting process for the Wilton Yellow Candy Melts.

Using your Superman Ice Cube Tray, place about a teaspoon of melted yellow chocolate into each mold cavity.  You want it to cover the bottom of the design, but not fill the whole cavity.

Tap out any air bubbles and level out the chocolate by tapping the mold onto the counter.  Place in the refrigerator along side the chocolate covered oreos.

When your cookies and superman logos are hardened, carefully pop them out of their molds.

If needed, remelt some of your chocolate melts.  Place a little bit of melted chocolate on the back of your superman logo to use as glue.  Place the logo in the center of the cookie and allow to harden together.

Now enjoy your Superman cookies at your next superhero party, graduation party, birthday party, or family movie night.

Your kids will enjoy being a superhero for the evening, and you can pretend, for just a moment that the moment will last forever.

Because it doesn't.  Sigh.
